Contact and Temperature Rise of Thermal Flying Height Control Sliders in Hard Disk Drives

چکیده

Contact behavior of thermal flying height control sliders and interfacial temperature rise upon head disk contact is investigated utilizing the resistance change of the read and write element. To achieve contact, the heater element of a TFC slider is energized with constant and square wave input profiles. To estimate the temperature rise during head disk contact, the resistance change of the read and write head is investigated as a function of heater power. Auxiliary calibration measurements were carried out to measure the resistance for both the read and the write head as a function of temperature.
